This one is simple. First, at the screen where you enter the post for your blog, there is space for "Labels for this post" at the bottom. These work exactly like categories. When you are writing posts, simply add the labels you like. If there are certain categories you are trying to create then put that category as a label. For example, in this blog you can see a "How Do I..." Label on the right side of the screen. For all my blog posts where I demonstrate how to do something, I label it with "How Do I..."
To get these labels in your blog you have to go to the Layout Screen and click on "Add a Gadget." Find the "Labels" gadget and click on the big plus to add it. Position the labels wherever you want them and just like that you have categories (labels) in your blog!

Tips From Blogger.com About How To Promote Your Blog
These tips are a little basic but they are worth looking at.
A Quick Marketing Tip For Your Blog: Business Cards
Here is the scenario: If you are excited and passionate about your blog, there is a chance that you might be bringing it up in a lot of your day-to-day conversations. So if all these people you are telling about your blog are actually interested, what is the best way for them to remember your domain name? They can enter it into their phone if they have the capability or you can spell it out to them while they write it on a napkin or the corner of a piece of paper. The latter method is almost a surefire way to lose a potential visitor. Wouldn't it be much easier for you to just pull out a business card with the URL of your website and a quick description? Business cards are great if utilized correctly but will be quickly tossed or stuffed in the back of a wallet if inappropriate. In the case where someone needs to remember your blog's domain name, they are perfect.
This post is going to show you how to get 250 business cards for free from VistaPrint. I have no affiliation with them and I only use them to get free business cards myself. My advice would be to use a secondary email address as they like to send out free offers. To get started click here or just go to the VistaPrint homepage. The instructions are in the images below. You can click on the four images to enlarge them.

This is an interesting story from Businessweek about how a software developer from Hawaii turned a picture of a cat with a silly slogan into a blog that gets 500,000 visitors a day. It is unbelievable but truly amazing what drives traffic to a blog! They found a niche on the Internet of caption loving cat adorers to make an estimated $5,600 a month. What niche can you find?
